It is very hard to measure the percentage remaining in a battery. Most of the batteries used in loggers will hold their voltage until they are almost empty, and then the voltage will start to decrease.

As a result, we tend to be able to tell you the battery is “OK” or “needs changing soon”.

Remember: We will send you email notifications when the battery is running low. You don’t need to “check” to see if the battery is low. We will cover this first in this article, and then show you how to check the battery level within Clever Logger

The low battery alarm

We will send a low battery alarm:

  • when we notice the voltage start to drop significantly, or
  • every 12 months if the battery life is less than 2 years (to comply with Strive For Five)

The low battery alarm email will then repeat until the battery is replaced.

Checking the battery status

You can check the status of your logger in the Clever Logger dashboard.

Click on Locations in the menu, then click on the logger you would like to check.

In the top right corner of the screen is an Options button.

Click on this and select Battery Status.

In the Battery Status panel, you can see the last time the battery was changed and when it will need to be replaced. For the CLT-01 logger, these dates will be 12 months apart, for the reasons previously discussed.
