If the office Wi-Fi is down, you can still connect your gateway to the internet
Most smartphones can generate a local Wi-Fi network, often called a hotspot, that allows other devices to use the phone’s cellular internet connection.
If your office internet is down (or you are unable to connect the gateway to it for some other reason), temporarily connecting your gateway to your phone’s hotspot will allow you to upload the stored data from your loggers to the internet.
Turning on the phone's hotspot
This procedure may be slightly different on different phones, so these instructions should be considered general.
Android
Go to Settings.
Tap on Network and Internet
Tap on Hotspot and Tethering
Tap on the Wi-Fi Hotspot to go into the hotspot settings
Here you can choose a name for your hotspot and set a password. You will need the password later to connect the gateway.
Apple
Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot, or Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Turn on the Allow Others to Join switch
Make a note of the Wi-Fi password. Tap on the Wi-Fi Password to change it if required.
Note that the Wi-Fi name will be the name of your phone e.g. Michael’s iPhone
Connect the gateway to the phone
Once you have the hotspot turned on and you know the Wi-Fi name and password, you can connect the gateway as you would to any other Wi-Fi network.
