FAQ

Should I connect to 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Many modern routers broadcast Wi‑Fi in two frequencies - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Which one is right for your Clever Logger gateway?

2.4GHz vs 5GHz Wi-Fi

The main difference between the two frequencies is the signal range and the data transmission speed.

The 2.4GHz band has a longer range and better penetration through walls and floors. The 5GHz has a shorter range and poor penetration but offers higher data transmission speeds.

Since Clever Logger doesn’t require particularly high speeds, the obvious answer is to choose the 2.4GHz network.

The only reason to connect to the 5GHz band would be if there was a lot of interference on the 2.4GHz channel from other devices. Even then, you should only do it when the gateway is located close to the wi-fi router.

TL;DR – Choose the 2.4GHz band
