The logger is the part that sits in your fridge/freezer and will record the date + time + temperature every couple of minutes. 

They will then transmit the data to the “gateway”.

“Location”

Instead of calling them “loggers”, we refer to them as “locations”. 
It is where the logger is located.

Don’t get this confused with the “site” (see below) which is the building.

Clever Logger Gateway

Gateway

The gateway is the link between your loggers and the internet. It will be within a room or two of the logger. It gets the data from the logger and uploads it to our server.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is Clever Logger’s interface with your data. You log into the Dashboard using your regular internet browser or with the Clever Logger phone app.

Location

A location is an individual logger. e.g. a fridge or a freezer.

Site

For larger installations, sites allow you to group locations together for the purpose of reporting and managing user access.

A site could be defined by:

  • A physical address
  • A department or ward
  • The person responsible
  • Anything you feel like!
 

Organisation / Account

For most users, the organisation is your account. It includes all the loggers/locations, sites and users that make up the system.

It is possible, however, for a user to belong to multiple organisations. This is typical of a chain or franchise where each store is its own organisation (i.e. totally managed locally) but someone wants to see what is happening in each. This is our recommended approach.

The alternative is to have one very large organisation with many sites. This is useful if all sites are centrally managed.

"How do I manage problems?" terminology

Alarm

Alarms are things that you need to be aware of and possibly react to. It is a notification of a problem such as:

  •  a high temperature
  • a low temperature
  • a logger or location is offline
  • a battery needs replacing

In practical terms, it is an email sent to your inbox and/or a push notification sent to your phone.

 

User

A Clever Logger user is a unique email address that has access to the Dashboard. 

You need to be a user to:

  • log into the dashboard
  • run the app on your phone
  • receive reports
  • receive alarms

Notification Group

A notification group is simply a group of users. A notification group can contain one or many users. A user can be in more than one notification group. 

Alarms are issued to notification groups.

For small installations “it just happens” and you really don’t have to understand it. For larger installations, it is useful to assign multiple locations to the one notification group, and then manage who is in the group. 

"Where is my data?" terminology

Report

Clever Logger reports are files that are either downloaded or sent as an email attachment. Reports can be scheduled to be emailed to users automatically, or they can be created on demand. 

"Who else can access my account?" terminology

Agency

An agency is a company whom you have allowed to provide support to your entire organisation in Clever Logger (meaning they have access to all your sites, locations and gateways). This may be the company you bought your system from, or it could be a company providing you with support such as your fridge technician.
